Medical Division
We deliver high-quality products through precision machining technology for difficult-to-cut materials.
About Medical Division
●Surgical Instruments
We propose more user-friendly instruments that meet the detailed needs of physicians.
●Implants
Artificial objects implanted in the human body are called implants.
Medical devices are mainly used for bone healing and are used to fix a fractured bone after it has been returned to its original position.
Screws, plates, and intramedullary nails, which are implants inserted into the bone marrow (tissue at the center of the bone), are used to immobilize the fracture site to relieve pain and promote bone healing (bone formation), thereby contributing to early rehabilitation and early return to daily life activities.
The fibular-tibial plate has a thin profile that conforms to the bone to avoid skin problems, and the shape and length can be selected according to the fixation site.
Precision machining technology for difficult-to-cut materials to deliver high quality products
The Medical Division manufactures mainly orthopedic implants and surgical instruments.
The division provides the entire process from marketing, design and development, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical applications, and boasts the top share among Japanese manufacturers in the field of femur fracture treatment.
We have precision machining technologies for difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium alloys, which are the main material for implants, pure copper, cobalt alloys, and carbon composites. Our machining technologies are also utilized in the manufacture of critical parts for domestic rockets, contributing to their successful launch for over 15 consecutive years.
We deliver high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers by combining the technology we have cultivated over the past half century with specialists in each department.
Product Examples
Our capabilities range from in-house products to OEM products, from trauma products to joint and spine products, and from Class 1 to Class 3 products. Due to confidentiality restrictions, only a few examples of our products are shown on this website.
Department Introduction
Design and Development
Optimal Product Shape using State-of-the-Art Technology
The product shape is modeled based on an analysis of the bone shape using CT data, and the shape is refined using 3D printers and prototyping to design an optimal implant that fits the bone shape of the Japanese patient.
In addition to implants, we also provide customized surgical instruments that can only be Made in Japan by working closely with our customers and our manufacturing department to respond to the ever-changing needs of our customers flexibly and promptly.
Pursuing High Quality
We perform stress distribution analysis of clinical products and bones using finite element analysis, and analysis and evaluation of structures and mechanisms using 2D/3DCAD.
We also perform comprehensive product analysis and evaluation, including product evaluation from the viewpoint of usability and analysis and evaluation of product strength through actual equipment testing.
Manufacturing
Advanced difficult-to-cut Machining Technical strength
We perform advanced difficult-to-cut machining using NC automatic lathes and high-function machining center equipment, and we provide integrated services from design, machining, and assembly based on the technology and achievements we have cultivated over the years.
We also engage in proactive quality improvement activities, and each employee works on his or her own initiative to improve operations.
Outstanding hand finishing
We meet the strict quality requirements of medical device parts by creating “products that are accurate to product drawings” with our outstanding manual chamfering, deburring, and buffing.
In addition, we have a clean room in the company, where precision work and inspections are thoroughly controlled, creating a system that guarantees high quality and high precision.
Processing equipment
OMIC provides advanced machining services to meet the needs of our customers by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and diverse equipment, including machining centers, lathes, and EDM machines. Please use this information as a reference to select the best equipment and technology for your project. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at any time.
Advanced craftsmanship
OMIC Corporation manufactures not only medical devices but also parts used for domestic rockets. These parts are used to separate the propulsion rocket from the main body at the time of launch. The main body is ignited by gunpowder and disassembled to separate the main body from the propulsion rocket.
Recently, our parts have also been used in solar cells that are used as a source of electricity on space stations.
Each of these products is our pride and proof of OMIC’s high technology.
What supports this technology is neither expensive processing machinery nor high-end jigs and tools, but the wisdom and know-how of our staff cultivated over many years.
Although it is generally considered to be a difficult industry to pass on skills, these skills are steadily being passed on to younger staff members, and the field of activity is expanding more and more as a specialist in machining difficult-to-cut materials.
